I had a Good Look at Crude Oil’s Possible Trend in 2010

Hi, this is Pierre Pienaar. I am just getting back into the swing of things and decided to take a look at the crude oil market.

It’s the first time I’ve looked at this market this year and am hard at work, and  wanted to share my ideas on oil for 2010 with you, to make some useful profits. Yesterday, my trading details were entering @ 72.83, stop/loss @ 71.83, and exit @ 74.34. As can seen I made some good profits. Will I make some profits today? What will I do before I trade:

March crude oil closed higher due to short covering on Monday as it consolidated some of the decline off January's high. The high-range close sets the stage for a steady to higher opening on Tuesday. Stochastics and the RSI are oversold but remain neutral to bearish signal that sideways to lower prices are possible near-term. If March extends the decline off January's high, the 75% retracement level of the September-January rally crossing at 71.70 is the next downside target. Closes above the 20-day moving average crossing at 78.47 are needed to confirm that a short-term low has been posted. First resistance is the 10-day moving average crossing at 75.23. Second resistance is the 20-day moving average crossing at 78.47. First support is last Friday's low crossing at 72.43. Second support is the 75% retracement level of the September-January rally crossing at 71.70.

I think oil's trend will show us that there will be short bursts of going bullish, but the World Economy is still confusing. One day it shows positive signs, then the next day some bad news appears. This will influence the price of oil every time. Just look at Toyota's recalling of vehicles. This is a big blow for manufacturing. How much will it cost to fix the problem? Honda also has a manufacturing problem.

Okay will I trade today (GMT 2+). As of writing: No.

Why, the trend is too choppy this morning, that will make it too risky. Although Asia rebounded, I am still worried about the Eurozone, especially Greece, Spain and the big one Britain.

The USA will also have to come to grips with Obama’s Bank reforms, and now NASA. Where  will all the jobs going.

Therefore, before you trade look at your Technical Graphs, watch the trends, and also have your eyes on the motor and manufacturing industry.

I've heard the demand statistics before.

In fact, I've had readers continually argue that there are fewer cars on the road nowadays, pointing toward rising inventories of motor gasoline.

Those same stats were running through my head as I was stuck in a merciless traffic jam over the weekend. A trip that should have taken me less than two hours turned into a six-hour crawl north to Philadelphia. I waited to see what kind of horrific accident would have caused such a delay...

And yet, each grueling mile passed with no such scene. At one point, people were just standing next to their cars out of frustration. The peak of my frustration was from an hour-long wait right next to a '40mph Minimum Speed' sign.

At the very least, the 80-mile traffic jam gave me time to think. I couldn't help wondering how things will play out — especially once demand recovers.

Remember, demand should be at its weakest point right now.
